Do you ever noticed that many people on this planet will throw their trash on the ground, even when there is a trash can nearby? I never understood how someone could just throw their trash on the ground instead of taking the extra effort to make sure that it goes into the trash can that someone has provided for them to use. I just don’t understand how someone can be OK with doing such a thing when in reality if someone threw trash on their property when they had a trash can they would be very upset. No scratch that they would be very upset regardless if they had a trash can or not to put it in, so how then could people decided that it is ok to do this to someone else, when they would not like someone to do it to them? It’s not that hard to be considerate and realize that you are being hypocritical when you do something like this.
I don’t know what goes through a person’s mind who decides to litter and I don’t pretend to know, but I would like to find out what drives a person to do such a thing. I mean it’s not like you were not told as a kid by your parents not to litter. Even if that is indeed the case, we should break the chain and set a batter example for the latter generations. I agree it’s not always easy to do the right thing, but we all know that this instance does not qualify as being one in the same category. I would assume that this growing problem has something to do with laziness or the fact that people who do these types of things have the mentality that if it’s not their place they don’t care. Whatever happened to treating others the way you wanted to be treated? I mean would you go to your friend’s house and just throw trash in their yard or on their floor? No, you would put it in the trash can, because it’s the right thing to do and that’s what you would want them to do at your house.
Look I am not asking for someone to make a drastic change and become super eco friendly, but we can all do a little something to help and be respectful while doing it. You should take pride in the fact that you respect those around you and you want to help keep the area where you live clean. You have to understand that the more people who treat things in this way the better things will get because others will think twice about doing it because they will look bad, It may not be the idea approach to a change, but it makes sure that people think twice before doing it and are compelled to do it and eventually it will become natural for them to do so everywhere they go.
We invented trash cans for a reason and when people don’t use them it makes you wonder what they think a trash can is for. It certainly isn’t something that is meant to sit there and look pretty; it’s something that is meant to be used and stands out for that purpose. As stated before, you should feel compelled and obligated to use them when they are needed and you should not be asked to use them. For me going against that and not throwing trash in a trash can would be difficult, because as soon as I throw it out my car window I know what I just did was completely wrong and inconsiderate.
