A Tiger Woods Christmas card is making the rounds on the internet. The Tiger Woods Christmas card is quite unflattering but, then, little has been flattering about the recent scandalous revelations about Tiger Woods’ alleged mistresses and the car accident that occurred in the wee hours of the morning on November 27. It is hoped that Tiger Woods has the ability to take a joke or at least has the ability to laugh at himself, because he is certainly going to need something along those lines for awhile as his car accident / affair(s) / mistress scandals play themselves out in the media. The Christmas card is just one of many hits the world’s greatest golfer has taken in the last week.
Since the news of Tiger Woods’ early morning car accident and the strange details surrounding it (foremost being his wife’s use of the golf club to smash out the windows of Woods’ SUV and whether or not she used the club to free him after the accident or had used it to “distract” him, causing the accident), Twitter users and bloggers and comedians have had a veritable field day with the Tiger Woods accident. Added into the mix were the several extramarital affairs he is alleged to be involved in, one of which allegedly caused the original argument that prefaced the accident.
The accident has been the subject of countless jokes, video parodies, social satire, and amusing reenactments. There is a Chinese animation reenactment that swept the internet within days of the accident. Spirit Airlines, a small airline company in Florida, also mocked Tiger Woods with an animated reenactment of the crash.
And then there were the details of the alleged affairs, which became fodder for another host of Tiger Woods centered songs, parodies, sketches, spoofs, and reenactments. It is alleged that there were hundreds of text messages to at least two mistresses. There was an alleged incriminating voicemail to one mistress, Jaimee Grubbs, that seemed to directly implicate the legendary golfer not only in an affair but in a situation where he was attempting to hide the affair from his wife. That voicemail has prompted numerous comedic renderings, many of which have become viral videos on YouTube like “The Tiger Woods Christmas Song Parody.”
But the Chistmas card is classic revenge humor. The scene is the idyllic picture of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, the wife holding a golf club. Tiger Woods is smiling, but his face is stitched up, his teeth are chipped, there’s a massive lump above his left eye, he has a busted lip, and he’s sporting a wicked black eye. And there’s a golf ball stuck in his ear. Merry Christmas from the Woods family, indeed.
At least this Tiger Woods Christmas Card is directed at being humorous. An earlier Christmas card depicted the same base photo, sans the golf club and beating marks. Instead, that unaltered photo was juxtaposed with a picture of Tiger, his wife, and their newborn child.
As stated, it is hoped Tiger Woods has a really good sense of humor. He’s certainly going to need it, especially if any of the allegatons about his mistresses happen to have any basis in truth. But sense of humor or no, he might have to develop a tougher epidermis just to get through the barbed gauntlet of public disapproval, ridicule, and jokes made at his expense.
