The holidays are a great time to spend the much needed time with your family and nothing brings your family together like great Christmas movies. Below are my families favorite movies to watch during the holiday season.
1.) The Original Christmas Classics (2007)
With the combination of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, and Frosty the Snowman (plus more); this is the ultimate DVD to have in your Holiday season movie arsenal. No Holiday season is complete without watching these timeless Holiday classics.
2.) The Polar Express (2004)
You’re in for a great ride (pun intended) with the Polar Express. Tom Hanks delivers a great Holiday experience that the entire family can enjoy. You’ll be amazed by the realistic 3D animation, songs, and great story that shows us the importance of having Holiday spirit.
3.) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Jim Carrey brings a Dr. Seuss Classic to life. Funny, frightening, and inspiring; this is one that will keep the family up when things start to wind down.
4.) Home Alone (1990)
This movie made Macaulay Culkin a household name. Home Alone shows a child living the dream of all children; a house all to himself, where he makes all of the rules. This movie shows us how important our family is and to not take each other for granted.
5.) A Christmas Story (1983)
Weird but still a classic. This movie taught me to never lick a pole in the winter (or any time, for that matter) and that no matter how weird your family is, it’s your family and you should stick together.
6.) Fred Clause (2007)
Vince Vaughn plays Fred Clause, the less successful brother of Santa Clause. This is definitely a movie about loving your family and it teaches us that our actions can affect and harm other people if we aren’t careful.
7.) Elf (2003)
There’s a kid in us all. Will Ferrell plays a human that grew up as an elf on the North Pole. He doesn’t really fit in the human or elf world but he helps to bring both races together to save Christmas.
8.) Scrooge (1970)
Bahumbug! Ebenezer Scrooge is a man of great wealth but little heart. He loathes Christmas and tries to ruin it for everyone until he’s made to face the true holiday spirit(s) and make things right.
9.) The Santa Clause (1994)
This movie starts off tragic but is saved by Tim Allen as he plays a man that must take the occupation of Santa Clause. His life is in ruins, his heart is in the right place and with the help of his son he makes the Holidays whole again.
10.) Babes in Toyland (1986)
Reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz this adventurous Holiday tale will have the family in suspense and delivers a nice addition to your holiday viewing.
