Elqui Domos. Located Pisco Elqui, Chile is an astronomy resort offering horseback tours to study the skies. The famous Elqui Valley is well known for it’s clear sky, they offer nightly horseback riding tours and your own telescope.

Airstream Europe. Retro airstream campers make up this retro Americana setting in beautiful Manses, France. This hotel is a favorite destination with groups. Their spacious garden pitches have full hookups and are full of retro gadgets. Black and white TVs sun loungers and a fantastic view of the mountains across to Andorra. Advance booking is required and camping sites are sometimes available too. This unique lodging is also under $100.
Hemp Hotel. Another budget friendly hotel in Europe is the Hemp Hotel in Amsterdam. Dedicated to the use of hemp from the mattresses to the curtains, shampoo, soap and a hemp roll for breakfast. Each room is themed, brightly painted and decorated. Caribbean, Afghani, Indian, Tibetan and Moroccan rooms are available also under $100. The owner Mila Jansen is involved in hemp projects in Kazakhstan, supporting villagers in finding alternative incomes for their existing farms and hemp projects.
Exploranter – Overland Hotel. This hotel is a trip, literally. The Exploranter is a mobile hotel, fully equipped with an industrial kitchen, hot showers, 30 leather seats and 28 beds.

Safariland Treehouse Resort offers 6 tree houses around 5 meters high and a number of cottages, all built from local materials and bamboo. The 2 story annex offers a spectacular view of the mountains in Tamil Nadu, India. Prices start at $250 and provide off road adventures in 4X4 jeeps, elephant rides and visits to nearby mountain peaks and ancient temples.
Ariau Amazon Towers Hotel offers the largest treehouse complex in the Amazon Rainforest. This is also the only hotel complex at tree top level in the Amazon Rainforest.

The Amazon has only 2 season, the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season runs from December to June with temps ranging 73 F to 86 F. The dry season has temps from 78 F to 104 F.

Sala Silvermine sleep 155 meters underground in the historic Sala Silvermine, one of the world’s best preserved mine settings. It is cold, damp and very beautiful, full of winding galleries, vast caverns and magical underground lakes. After a guided tour, you are given a basket of refreshments and something to drink. The guide then leaves you alone in the quiet of the mine overnight. In the morning a guide retrieves you and serves your breakfast before heading back to ground level. $100 a night, this is another unusual hotel that is easy on the pocket book.
Be sure to wear warm comfortable clothes during your stay. The mine is only 2 degrees Celsius year round. The suite is warmed to 18 degrees Celsius and the bed is covered with thick blankets.
Phones do not work underground, but there is an intercom radio for you to communicate with the staff above ground.
Gamirasu Cave Hotel. Cappadocia, Turkey is home to this unusual hotel created from a restored prison and monastic cell cave house. This hotel has the reputation of being the best hotel in the region, due to their focus on service and attention to detail. All 18 rooms in the Gamirasu are exquisitely restored and seeped in history. Breakfast is locally grown produce, yoghurt, honeycomb and fresh baked bread.
