Are you hitting the slopes this winter? Do you need to look your best, yet still be comfortable as you shred the powder? Here are four of my best recommendations for men’s snowboarding jackets that will have you looking like the king of the slopes in no time!
Burton Field Jacket ($160):
This cheaper version of Burton’s excellent jacket line comes with their patented Active Lining System, which protects your core with closed cell mesh, and your sides from wind shear with micro cell mesh. More mesh covers the underarm and other high heat areas, and offers breathability for backwoods and spring rides where overheating is a concern. It’s taped seams, waterproof zippers, and Burton’s special Storm-lite fabric makes sure that no moisture gets inside your garb, and dual chest pockets offer plenty of space to store enmities. It even has a custom MP3 pocket and retractable ear buds so you can listen to your tunes on the slopes.
DC Servo 10 Jacket ($200):
I especially like this jacket for the striped pattern it comes in, though it comes in straight black and rubber-duck yellow, too. The jacket focuses on excellent wetness protection, and comes with full steam taping, a powder skirt, and a removable hood. It also features DC’s Exotext fabric, which they claim is nearly impenetrable, and is guaranteed to keep flakes out. And as is the fad with modern jackets, it even sports a special media pocket for extra storage while you’re on the mountain.
Billabong Marius Jacket ($230):
This signature offering by snowboarding aficionado Marius Otterstad is a beautifully patterned jacket from Billabong. Besides its good looks, it comes packed with 10k waterproofing, light poly insulation, and more obnoxious paint than you can shake a stick at. The strength in this jacket lies in the details. Its creator knows what matters in snowboarding, and the jacket has been custom tailored to proved this most comfort. You’ll notice the small things as you slalom through the powder this season.
Ride Admiral Jacket ($300):
Sure it’s more expensive, but its so packed with features there’s hardly any room for you in it! This jacket is perfect for anything you want to set it to, from the most extreme of riding to the lightest. Some of its many features include a powder skirt with attached Lycra Stretch Panel, Jacket-to-Pant Zip Connector (also with Stretch Panel), a pull down pass holder pocket, built in cover slots that make the removable hood feel nice and secure, extended wrap-around cuffs that can be secured to your gloves for maximum wetness protection, and an ergonomic adjustable swivel hood to keep your head comfortable. It’s a fantastic jacket, and there’s no way you’ll regret having it as you tear down the mountain.
