After buying Christmas presents for the same guy every year for 5 years, I feel that I now know a lot about teenage boys and what kind of presents they want. I remember being 15 and wondering what I should get him, nervous that he wouldn’t like my gift, so I wanted to write this to help all of you who are looking for a gift for your boyfriend, or simply need a gift for a teenage boy. So here are what I feel to be the top 5 gifts for teenage boys:
1- Candy/Cookies
-When it comes to teenage boys you can never fail with food. Growing up with an older brother, I pretty much got him some type of candy or cookies every year for Christmas, and he was always happy. Even now that he is 23 that makes him happy, so if you think it’s weird to get candy for Christmas, don’t, he’ll like it.
2- Gift Card
-Here is another one of those you never fail gifts. Every teenage boy will be happy with a gift card. You can get him a gift card to one of his favorite clothing stores, or gear it more towards the sports and hunting type stores. Regardless of where the gift card is too, any teenage boy will be glad to get a gift card that he can spend. You may have better chances just doing this than buying him something that he will just return anyways. So if you don’t really know a particular thing he wants, I would definitely recommend giving him a gift card.
3- DVD’s
-Now try to prove me wrong, but I feel like guys are obsessed with movies. This is one thing that I can always count on to get a teenage boy if I have no other ideas. In fact, I tend to get DVD’s for both my brother and boyfriend each year. Yes that’s repetitive, but the boys loves movies and I am happy that I have an easy present to give them.
4- Electronics (ipod, gps, tv)
Now, depending on how much you want to spend this Christmas, electronics are something that you can’t go wrong buying for a teenage boy. Whether you want to get him an Ipod, a TV, a GPS, or something else, he will forever be grateful. Last Christmas I got my boyfriend a GPS and even wrote something corny in the card, like “Use this and you can always find your way to me.” Hah, it was silly but he liked it. He also needed it, because unlike many guys, he has NO sense of direction!
5-Video Game (or video game system)
Last but not least you can get a teenage boy a video game or video game system. I feel like most guys these days are obsessed with some kind of system or game. Whether it be a classic like Nintendo, or a newer game like Call of Duty on systems like the Play Station 3, you can never go wrong with a video game.
So there are my tips for Christmas gifts to get teenage boys. If you can’t find something here then you may be out of luck, but I feel like any of these options, or a combination of some, will make any guy happy.
