Top Xbox Live Indie Games for $1: #2I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1
This is possibly the funniest Xbox Live Indie Game released so far. Most two stick shooters tend to either have a space or science fiction style but Z0MB1ES instead puts you up against an onslaught of wave after wave of the undead. It has a custom soundtrack that is hilarious. The song alone is worth the $1 cost of the game. You start with 5 lives and you have until the song ends, roughly 15 minutes, to get the highest score you can. With numerous weapons and power-ups to grab as you play there is never a dull moment. What really stands out about it is that the waves of incoming enemies launch in time with the beat of the music. It is the little touches like this that make it such a fun game.
Top Xbox Live Indie Games for $1: #1 Fishing Girl
If you are looking for a mellow relaxing Xbox Live Indie Game then Fishing Girl is just what you need. The game’s description is speciously simple: “A game a about a girl, a boy, and an ocean full of fish. Fishing Girl is an arcade fishing game with over 10 different fish to catch and 8 rod and lure upgrades.” When the game starts you have a small fishing pole and tiny lure as bait. You then have 10 minutes to catch fish, buy larger equipment, and save your friend. However, you can turn of the timer and play indefinitely if you prefer. To save your friend and win the game you have to ultimately buy the largest fishing pole available in the game and cast all the way across the ocean to the island that he is on. Fishing Girl has a great understated art style. It also has very simple controls. You can play the whole game with only two buttons. You just have to be sure to time the pressing of them correctly when casting and reeling in your lure. There are no achievements in Xbox Live Indie Games but Fishing Girls does have in game badges you unlock as you play that keep you coming back for more. Even after you win it is a lot of fun to turn of the timer and see how many fish you can catch. The game is polished and plays smoothly. It gets the number one spot because there is nothing the developer could have added to make it better that would not have taken away from the mellow, relaxed atmosphere of the game.
