Wintertime is often an ideal time to complete various home improvement/remodel projects that require you to be inside. Often during the summer months its hard to focus on the interior of our homes, garages, or basements because the lovely weather beckons us to head outside and indulge in warm weather projects so once the winter hits its the perfect excuse to focus on the interior projects that desperately need completing around your house. Here are seven wonderful home improvement projects to keep you busy this winter.
Wintertime is a fantastic time of year to launch a complete bathroom remodel. Install a new sink or perhaps a dual sink. Place new medicine cabinets up and perhaps go with a recessed cabinet. Try to focus on the lighting in your bathroom. Perhaps its time to go with more Eco-friendly lighting? Also install a wonderful water saver toilet which will help you cut back on your water usage so you can save money on your water bill. Also consider new faucets. If you feel up for a complete remodel then pick out a new tub and shower. Once this remodel is done you can choose your colors or wall paper to highlight your stunning new bathroom. You can also pick out rugs and towels. A completely remodeled bathroom will give you a fantastic feeling of satisfaction.
Winter is a wonderful time to consider a kitchen remodel. It will be your choice if you go with a simple face lift or a complete tear out remodel. You can simply paint, choose new counter tops, and refinish your existing cabinets for a simple touch up. You could also buy new appliances.
Maybe its time to go all out with a full remodel, though. If this is the case then why not order kitchen cabinets that you assemble and install yourself to save a bit of money. My husband and I did this a few years ago. It was easy, fast, and we had fantastic results.
Wintertime is a wonderful time to focus on reflooring one room at a time. Perhaps you want to lay carpet, tile, or simple wood floors. Wood floors have never been easier to install yourself and the tend to be quite affordable.
Paint a room at a time. You can choose a room each month of the winter to paint. Simply move the furniture from room to room and then take your time painting. It can be a fun project for the whole family to be involved in.
If your garage is not insulated then its the ideal time to start hanging insulation and sheet rocking over it. A finished garage ups the value of your home and gives you a nice area to work in for projects.
If you have a basement then this might be a good time to focus on finishing this area. You can hang insulation and sheet rock the area. You can focus on turning the basement into a utility room, game room, guest room, or family room.
7) Touch Ups
Perform little touch ups around your home. Try to focus on perhaps placing crown molding up, refinishing a banister, placing new baseboard down, or weatherstripping your doors. There is always small projects around a home to undertake that you might have let ride over the wintertime.
