If your home is like my home, you could use more organization. How many times have you found yourself running through the house looking for keys or papers that you need? In my case, I would waste time looking for something and then waste money replacing it because my home was unorganized. There are five key areas in every home that benefit from being organized.
1. Laundry sorting hamper – Before I purchased a couple of these sorting hampers, I would run around each week gathering laundry from different rooms and sorting piles of dirty clothes for my family. Laundry sorting hampers come in a variety of styles and prices so finding one that is perfect for your family is extremely easy. My laundry room is small so purchasing the Deluxe Laundry Kit ($169.99) made keeping all of my laundry supplies organized and conveniently within reach.
2. Kitchen cabinet, shelf and drawer organizers – This was a bit of a daunting task when I decided to organize my kitchen because all of my drawers were considered “junk drawers”. We have lived in our current home for eighteen years and I have not redesigned or organized my kitchen in at least ten years or more. I now swear by, and would never do without, kitchen organizers. Whoever the genius was that created these wonderfully amazing organizers should be given the Gold Medal of Organization. Try Organize.com, SpaceSavers and Cabinet Accessories Unlimited for amazing kitchen organizers. You can also find these at your local home improvement store such as Home Depot and Lowes.
3.Closet organizers – Another problem area in most homes is the closets. Closets become cluttered and unorganized making finding items difficult and time consuming. Furthermore, I cannot begin to count the number of times I have purchased a pair of shoes or pair of pants because I had forgotten that I had a pair that already matched the shirt that I had purchased. If my closets had been organized, I would have been able to see immediately what clothes I needed. You can purchase closet organizers online or from your local discount stores (Target, Wal-mart) or home improvement stores (Lowe’s and Home Depot). Closet organizers vary greatly in size, shape and expense but are the one item every home should have to be organized. (TIP – Do not forget the kid’s room – this will greatly distress your life!)
4.Home Office Organizers – This is another problem area in most homes and causes bills to be late, permission slips to be lost and countless hours looking for lost keys. If you take the time to organize your home office, you will save yourself time, money and blood pressure medicine in the long term. I have a small home so I searched until I found a corner desk that is perfect for our computer and home office. Once you have your desk, purchase home office organizing accessories, choose a place for everything and ALWAYS return items back to their place after using them.
5. Garage storage solutions are a number one priority in my home at this time. I have fussed at my husband for years because I cannot park my vehicle in my garage. He uses our garage as a self-storage unit but without any organization. I have directed him to SpaceSavers.com, Organize.com and our local home improvement store with a gentle request that he organize our garage soon.
