Americans seem to be obsessed with many things, but in particular, they are concerned with youth and beauty, health and vitality. In fact, the number of health and wellness magazines on the market today has grown substantially over the past few decades. If you want to take better care of yourself and think a magazine would help guide and inspire you, then check out the following five health and wellness magazines that enjoy extreme popularity and success in the U.S. (as some do internationally as well).
Prevention Magazine is one of the more popular health and wellness magazines on the market today. It features up-to-date information about health news, medicine, diseases and conditions, fitness and exercise, weight loss, natural healing, and recipes. Prevention is read by more than 10.5 million people in the U.S. and has a circulation of 2.8 million.
Health Magazine has been published since 1987 and is geared more toward women. The information is up-to-date and focuses on problem solving content to help consumers with health and stress issues. The style of writing is very simple making Health an easy to read magazine. They now work in conjunction with Health.com on topics that are closely related. Health.com is a great website that has an A-Z index on its home page with the most looked up conditions.
Men’s Health has a circulation in excess of 1.8 million and is the world’s best selling magazine for men. In fact, there are 43 international editions of Men’s Health with a readership of more than 22 million men in the world. Men’s Health features topics for professional and successful men who are looking to improve their mental, emotional and physical health. The reporting is in depth and covers a wide range of topics from fashion, grooming, health, exercise and nutrition, to the latest entertainment and gear.
Women’s Health magazine focuses on health, weight loss and nutrition, sex and relationships, emotional well-being, beauty and style. It has launched a Women’s Health International series in Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand and Turkey, and here in the U.S. is ranked #4 on Adweek Media’s “Hot List”. Women’s Health is a great publication because it speaks to women in a language women can understand. It also has feature stories which are lighter and more humorous in nature.
Shape is my favorite women’s health magazine and is probably one of the oldest having begun in 1981. Its topics include nutrition, exercise, medicine, emotional and spiritual fitness through relationships, and focuses on the importance for both mind and body fitness and motivation. It also focuses on beauty and style, as well as lifestyle topics such as sexual health, emotional wellbeing, etc.
The aforementioned health magazines can be purchased at any book store, grocery store, or large retail chain store. Also be sure to go online to check out each magazine first especially if you’re thinking about subscribing. Remember, too, that many of the magazines have corresponding websites that have online material available for your reading enjoyment.
