It’s time to take that second honeymoon! No matter how long you have been married, taking a second honeymoon is a great way to step up romance and make some great memories.
All of these suggested travel destinations offer romance and fun. I have included a variety of price ranges and destinations that will appeal to couples everywhere. Check these out before booking your second honeymoon.
1.) Paris. I couldn’t resist. What could be more romantic than the “City of Light”. If you’ve never been to Paris, or even if you have, a visit to Paris has all the elements that make for a great, romantic getaway. What could be more lovely than a stroll down the Champs Elysee, where you can take in the sights and sounds of a real French shopping district? Pick up a bottle of a wonderful French perfume here. Pose for photos under the Eiffel Tower. (It’s taller and grander than it looks in pictures.) And what is more wonderful than a French meal in a lovely restaurant? The French take great pride, of course, in their cuisine. In my experience, it’s nearly impossible to get a bad meal in Paris!
Airfares from New York to Paris range from $1,065 in November to $1,300 in July. Packages can be found starting at around $2,000 and up for hotel, air and a 16 night stay in a 3-star hotel. If luxury is what you are seeking, there is no shortage of 5-star luxurious accommodations.
2.) Hawaii. If you don’t mind a long flight, (depending on your departure city), Hawaii is a top recommendation. There is a reason so many honeymooners choose Hawaii. Beautiful weather, tropical beaches, flowers everywhere….what’s not to like? Round-trip airfare on Delta can be found for as low as $569 from JFK. If you are seeking a package, there are Honolulu 16-night packages starting at $1,500 for a 3-star hotel. Of course, you can upgrade to luxury and that will be considerably more.
3. Curacao. This Caribbean island which is part of the Netherlands Antilles offers a warm, beautiful climate, gorgeous beaches and scenery and is just a little bit exotic. Enjoy a meal of iguana, if you are adventurous. This is a popular menu item here. Of course, European continental cooking is also popular here. After all, this was a Dutch island. American Airlines offers round-trip airfare from JFK as low as $562. Airfare + 16 nights in a hotel can run $1,500 and up.
4. If you are considering staying in the continental US, how about a trip to Florida? The great thing about Florida is that it has the feel of the Caribbean with usually much lower airfares. Palm Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, are just a few of the cities to consider. If Disney World is under consideration, you won’t be disappointed, especially if you stay at one of their better on-site resorts. Delta is offering RT airfare in November for $188 from JFK to Fort Lauderdale. A 16 night package in that city may run $674 and up.
5. And last, but not least, Niagara Falls. Really! Although it sounds so cliche, if you’ve never actually been to Niagara Falls, you’re in for a treat! This amazing natural wonder is breathtaking to behold. Be prepared to take lots of photos. Beautiful upstate New York can be a quiet, peaceful and charming getaway. You can fly into Buffalo International Airport or drive along Interstate 90 to get there. Make sure to bring your passports. If you cross over into Canada, you may have difficulty returning to the US without them.
