With Thanksgiving right around the corner, you already might have made the decision to host a Thanksgiving party and probably have started planning. One thing you may not have considered is the entertainment. Entertainment is often the last thing that you as a host will think about. We all plan the food, decorations, and invites first. If you are ready to start planning the entertainment there are lots of options to keep your guests happy and entertained.
The first thing you must consider is whether or not your party will be a formal party or a casual one. Are you having an adult themed party or one for kids? How many guests will be at your party? The answers to these questions will help you properly plan the entertainment for the night.
Music is an excellent form of entertainment. You may find your guests singing along and dancing to the music you choose. For a formal dinner classical music, or jazz is better than any other type. For a casual party you can play party favorites, or music that everyone will like. Fit the music to the energy of your party. Slower quieter, softer music is better while you eat in order to allow your guests to carry on conversations.
Games are an excellent form of entertainment at your Thanksgiving party. For kid’s parties games are a must. Thanksgiving themed party games may not be suitable for a formal party, but will work perfectly fine for a casual party. This does not mean that you can’t have games at a formal party, just suit the games to your guests. For formal parties, games can consist of trivia games, and even a guess the year game where you pick an event that occurred in your family and your guests have to pick the year it occurred. For children’s parties you can do a turkey waddle contest, or finger painting turkeys with the children’s hand print. For a full list of games you can visit Party Game Ideas for a full list of Thanksgiving themed party games.
Karaoke can also be a great form of entertainment. Another form of this entertainment is a family talent show. Since the holidays are often a time when we see family members we don’t often see, it would be a fun idea to showcase our talents. Let your family know ahead of time that there will be a talent show. This will give them plenty of time to practice and get their acts fine tuned. You can offer a prize for first second and third place, and even video the show for future party entertainment.
With a little preplanning you can make your Thanksgiving party full of entertainment for your guests. They will leave your home knowing that you put a lot of thought and effort into making their night as memorable as possible.
