The fangbanging love of True Blood season two will be over with the finale episode to be aired on September 13 on HBO – Beyond Here Lies Nothin’. This season has proved to be a roller coaster full of surprises and , blood and sex (although not as much sex as the previous season which rated right up there on my soft core porn-o-meter).
What’s going to happen in the final episode? Speculation on the Internet is wild and varied. Here are a few of my predictions or thoughts on what to expect with the final episode of season two, True Blood. If you agree, disagree or have different ideas altogether – leave a comment. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Lorena will lure Bill away from Sookie
Now mind you, I have read all of the books. I know what happened in the book that True Blood season two is based on (Living Dead in Dallas) and what will happen in the next book (Club Dead) – which I am assuming season three will follow loosely.
I predict that in the finale episode of True Blood season two, Bill and Sookie will be torn apart, but it won’t be entirely against their will. The power a vampire maker has over an “offspring” in the True Blood world is persuasion that can’t be resisted. I believe the producers of True Blood will set up the premise for season three that Lorena’s power over Bill and Bill’s helplessness against her will rekindle their relationship. This also is in keeping with the book Club Dead in which Bill leaves Sookie for Lorena. Without giving anything away, I’ll just say that doesn’t end so well for Bill – or Lorena.
The Relationship Between Sookie and Eric Will Heat Up
Without providing too much True Blood spoilage, let’s just say that I like the hot Viking vampire in the books and I think the producers of True Blood are going to capitalize upon that favor among readers and True Blood fans.
The relationship between Sookie and Eric has already started to heat up thanks to the sneaky way Eric convinced Sookie to take some of his blood during episode 10 (read the recap of True Blood episode 9 – I Will Rise Up – here). The season finale will see some serious passion flaring between the telepathic waitress and the flaxenhaired vampire.
Maryann the Maenad
In e, the Maenad character has an important role but a very small interaction with the characters and the people of Bon Temps. The producers of True Blood obviously saw some potential with the Maenad character and I think fans have enjoyed the hedonistic twists that Maryann has brought to the True Blood table, but what will happen at the end?
In the book, the Maenad left town and went on her merry Maenad way after a bloodbath and some serious carnage and I think the sly and sneaky True Blood producers will probably do something similar. I don’t see them killing off Maryann – I think they’ll save her for some future episodes.
Tara and Eggs – Sunny Side Up?
Tara’s going to find herself in more trouble than she can dig out of on her own by the last episode of True Blood, but she’ll survive with a little help from her friends. Eggs, however, I don’t think he’s going to make it out intact.
The producers of True Blood have already taken much poetic license with the book translation to the HBO series and kept alive characters who are supposed to be dead (Remember Lafayette? Remember the beginning of season 2 – the dead body in the car? That was supposed to be Lafayette.), as well as giving more meat and bones to minor characters (Tara Thornton, Maryann the Maenad, Jason Stackhouse) – so it’s possible that if Eggs has a future purpose on True Blood, they’ll keep him around, but I have my doubts.
I see Eggs getting scrambled in the final episode of True Blood.
Jason, Sookie’s brother, played a rather minor role in the earlier Southern Vampire Mysteries books – but his role was expanded later on. True Blood has seen Jason become a major character and I believe the series will continue to capitalize on Ryan Kwanten’s sex appeal by making sure Jason has plenty of, ahem, exposure in coming episodes. In short, nothing bad’s gonna happen to Jason.
Jessica the Vampire Teen
Since the character of Jessica doesn’t exist in the books, the True Blood producers have plenty of leeway to do whatever they want with her. At first I didn’t like her presence in the series, but I have since found her evolving role to be delightful. I’ve enjoyed watching Jessica try to figure out her life – or rather her death – as a teen vampire. Her emotions, her surprises, her awkwardness that makes for great snickers is an asset to the show. I think the producers have already figured that out and they’re going to continue to stretch this character into the third season.
Sam is a steady rock in Sookie’s world through all nine of the Southern Vampire Mysteries books. I don’t see anything changing in the True Blood series. Not yet anyway. I don’t believe anything bad is going to happen to Sam either – but he’s going to be present when the blood hits the fan for everyone else.
There will be some minor characters – familiar faces without names who will be the obligatory dead people in the final episode. You know the ones – those we haven’t gotten to know well enough to care much about? We don’t even really recall their names.
Something crazy and unexpected IS going to happen though – and I do believe a major character will be changed or taken out. At least for now.
Who could it be and how will it happen?
All we can do is wait and see on September 13.
