Where to Buy Cheap Christmas Lights Online 2009

by sawpan

Lights are an important decorating accessory when you’re decorating your house and yard for Christmas. But where do you go to buy all those strands of Christmas lights you’ll need? This article will help you on where to find cheap Christmas lights online. Check out the following five websites where you can buy cheap Christmas lights: Amazon.com; BirdDogDistributing.com; ChristmasDepot.com; NoveltyLights.com and Save-on-Crafts.com.

Amazon.com offers a nice selection of Christmas lights at reasonable prices. You can get a set of 100 clear mini lights for $4.21 each plus shipping. There is a set of white LED Mini Christmas Lights for $7.25 or a set of blue for $7.71 which are eligible for free super saver shipping on orders over $25.00 which is a great deal with shipping costs being so high from a lot of online stores. I like how Amazon.com allows ratings and reviews on the products they sell. I’ve made the decision to either buy something or not buy something based on the reviews I read on their website.

BirdDogDistributing.com offers cheap Christmas lights for the person who may be thinking of creating a lavish light display for the entire neighborhood. In fact their vow is that they will have the lowest prices and if you can show them a lower price on the same exact item they sell, they will sell the item to you for five percent less than that lower price. Plus there is no sales tax when you buy from them because they are located in Montana (a no sales tax state). They even have a toll free number, 1-800-514-8435, which is easy to locate on their website (unlike some other websites). If you are unsure of how to install your Christmas lights, there are different articles with photos to teach you how to install them.

BirdDogDistributing.com has special featured clearance light strands for $2.99 for 50 clear bulbs and $3.99 for 100 clear bulb sets of twiggies and a special on 150 feet of orange rope lights for $179.99. Check out their website for more information and prices.

ChristmasDepot.com has an easy to use website to help you choose Christmas lights in the colors you want. On the left-hand side of their website is a column for “Christmas Lights – Choose Your Color.” You can choose from any one of fourteen different colors; amber, blue, clear, frost white, gold, green, multi color, orange, pink, purple, red, teal, turquoise and white. You can also choose what color wire you want your light strands to have; green, white, brown or black. Another option you have to choose from is how far apart you want your bulbs on the wire; two and a half inches or six inches apart.

Next, you will need to pick how many bulbs you want on your string of lights. Some of the bulb choices are 20, 25, 35, 50, and 100 light sets. The price for a 20 mini light set starts at $4.99; rope lights start at $33.99 for 18 feet and 150 bulb net lights for $16.00. They sell different novelty lights in various shapes and they do sell individual bulbs as well. You can buy certain light strings in bulk and save a few dollars on a case of six strings of the same color and type. They even have a link to a section of lights priced under $10.00.

NoveltyLights.com has a smaller selection of different Christmas light colors than some of the other websites (with eleven choices) but they do sell their Christmas lights in bulk and the more strings you buy, the lower the prices are. For example, a string of 100 bulb mini lights, spaced six inches apart, on a 50 foot strand cost $7.95 for one set. When you buy 24 to 119 pieces (sets), the price falls to $6.95 each and when you buy 120 pieces (sets) and up, the price is $5.95 each. A 100 bulb light set with bulbs that are two and a half inches apart with a 22 foot strand is $5.75 each with prices dropping to $4.60 each for 24 to 119 sets and $3.95 each for 120 or more sets purchased. Their Christmas light sets are for indoor or outdoor use and have snap-lock sockets to help prevent vandals from twisting them and the entire set stays lit if one bulb burns out or is broken.

Other Christmas lights available are LED (light – emitting diodes) which are more energy efficient as they take less energy to shine. They start at $16.65 for a 70 light set with prices dropping depending on how many sets you buy. NoveltyLights.com has something new in Christmas lights; the garland clusters. This is a set that is 10 feet long and has 200 bulbs. Each cluster has three bulbs and each bulb is attached to the wire to keep the bulbs pointing in the same direction. One garland cluster is $12.95 each or $10.50 each for twelve to 59 sets or $8.00 each for 60 or more sets.

Save-on-Crafts.com is a website that specializes in items that are needed for catering, special event planners and wedding planners for wedding and reception supplies but they sell lights for anything and everything you can possibly think of at discount prices. They sell different colors of light strands and different shapes (such as chili peppers and flowers) and different styles. You can get 150 clear icicle light sets for $8.99 each or 150 clear net sets starting at $10.99. Rope lights are available starting at $17.50 for 18 feet of clear lights. A string of 100 light sets start at $7.99. Their selection is huge and varied so check out their website.

The five websites that I’ve listed in this article have some great prices on different Christmas lights. I did find one other store where you can buy cheap Christmas lights and while I found them online, there wasn’t an option to buy them online and have them shipped to me. Over at Lowes.com, you can find Christmas light sets starting at $1.48 each for a 35 bulb set; $1.98 for a 50 bulb set and $2.48 for a 100 bulb light set. The catch is that their color selection is limited and you will have to go to their store to buy them. Check their website to find out if there is a store near you.
