The Old Time Christmas Tree Farm is a fun place to visit, even if you aren’t looking for a Christmas tree. They open in October with a Pumpkin Patch, and go right through Christmas selling their beautiful trees. They also have pre-cut Fraser Firs from North Carolina. They are located in Spring, Texas on Spring-Cypress Rd., open daily after Thanksgiving from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Old Time Christmas Tree Farm has been selling trees since 1996, and they have over 30 acres of Virginia Pines and Leyland Cypress Christmas trees. Measuring sticks and saws are provided. Trees start at six feet for $52 (this is based on last year’s figures – they have not set height and cost yet for this year). This Christmas tree farm also has fresh wreaths and garland, tree stands, a playground, hot cocoa and hot apple cider for sale, and crafts for sale. Santa is there on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with pictures costing $9.00 with their camera or $5.00 if you use your own camera. Visit them at www.oldtimechristmastree.com.

Spring Creek Growers is another wonderful local Christmas tree farm, located on Decker Prairie-Rosehill Rd. in Magnolia, TX. This Christmas tree farm offers Virginia Pines and Leyland Cypress trees for cutting. Saws and measuring poles are provided. Trees range in size from 5 ft. to over 12 ft. tall, and range in price from $40 to $180. This Christmas tree farm also has pre-cut North Carolina Fraser Firs as well as Noble Firs. Pre-cut trees start at 6 ft. in height and $69.95 in cost (not so inexpensive, but remember these tress are being trucked in, so figure that into the price.) Other attractions include tractor pulled hayrides, a tricycle path, a gift shop, complimentary hot chocolate, cider and coffee, as well as a bakery and snack bar. Spring Creek Growers also has wreaths, poinsettias and garland. And don’t forget breakfast with Santa, including hayrides and photo ops, on weekends in December. They are open after Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visit them at www.springcreekgrowers.com.
Dewberry Farm is a great place to cut your own fresh Christmas tree. Located in Brookshire Texas, (west of Katy), this is one of the newer Christmas tree farms, but it has some wonderful Virginia Pines and Leland Cypress trees, as well as Carolina Sapphires. Saws are provided, as are shaking and baling. Dewberry Farms offers a hayride to take your family and tree back to the farm, where they offer a gift shop and other attractions. There is a lot for children to do at this Christmas tree farm, including a barnyard, a giant play fort, a barrel train, a 12 foot hay mountain for climbing, and pedal cars. Dewberry Farms opens the Friday after Thanksgiving, opening at noon on Fridays and Sundays, 10 a.m. on Saturdays, and closing at dusk. Trees start at six feet tall and at $48.
