Google Hot Trends has Nancy Grace and Jon Gosselin together as a high rising search term. Yet the two could never be further apart. That was demonstrated on The Insider when Nancy Grace was absolutely rude to guest Jon Gosselin and his lawyer. There are stories all over the net recapping the event. The stories say Nancy Grace is silencing or shutting up Jon Gosselin. But isn’t a talk show supposed to be about talking and listening and not judging? At least until the guest has a chance to speak his mind.
Nancy Grace had made up her mind well before Jon Gosselin ever stepped a foot near that set. Jon Gosselin was gracious enough to come on the show, whether it was for economic or personal reasons or just to clear up family matters. But Grace, instead of being a normal host, didn’t really allow Jon Gosselin to speak.
As an outsider looking in, I would imagine that Jon Gosselin has gone through his share of high profile drama throughout this ordeal. Yet, when he is trying to apologize for basically doing the wrong thing Nancy Grace continually interrupts him and belittles him in front of millions. Why? Perhaps Nancy Grace knows that an effort like that could draw ratings to a show. Perhaps Nancy Grace has an agenda and has already judged Jon Gosselin without listening to his side of the story. Perhaps she is being theatrical for theatrical reasons. Who needs journalism when we can instantly judge people?
She contradicts herself by screaming at Jon Gosselin and telling Jon Gosselin that he and his wife need counseling for arguing. Yet, Jon Gosselin is the one who is remaining calm and it’s his life they are talking about. Not the life of Nancy Grace.. How she could get so overheated and treat a guest that way is awful awful journalism. I know Nancy Grace is the type of person who gets paid for her opinion. But where is the grace? Where is the respect for someone who is not getting paid(most likely) to make an appearance on a show to explain his situation and instead gets reamed?
I hate all the posts and blogs out there who are automatically against Jon Gosselin even though they don’t really understand the entire situation. We are such a judgmental country and I wish people could just sit and listen before they weigh in and assume that someone is guilty. Jon Gosselin may be in the wrong. Completely. But there is a different side of every single story. Two sides to every coin.
It’s kind of ironic that Grace has a background in law but she doesn’t listen or get the full facts before screaming at Jon Gosselin. I think she owes him an apology that we will probably never see. Why? Because most of America generally agrees that Jon Gosselin is in the wrong. Does that make it true? Well, how would we ever know if talk show hosts like Nancy Grace don’t allow him an opportunity to express his thoughts?
It’s not her life and she is not the person who ultimately decides what happens in the situation. In retrospect, it was probably not in the best interest of Jon Gosselin to go on a show like that on the heels of his latest statements and decision to try and put the family back together. He should have kept in private when he had an opportunity. For that, I fault him and his lawyer. Bad decision and he kind of knew going in it wouldn’t be easy.
It’s important to note that I am not siding with Jon Gosselin or Kate in the marital situation. In fact, I could care less. But I would like to see some professional courtesy from someone who is supposed to be a professional journalist. It’s annoying watching the video to see Nancy Grace and her greater than thou attitude as if she wouldn’t struggle in the spotlight raising 8 kids in front of a national television audience.
Maybe she wouldn’t, because she seems to have every answer to every problem. Her convictions are strong and that kind of thing sometimes makes for compelling television. But after watching the video of Nancy Grace rudely attacking Jon Gosselin, I compare her now more so to Rush Limbaugh for theatrics and an unemotional turned emotional for television rampage. To act as if America is all behind you and your treatment of Jon Gosselin in such a cold harsh way is absolutely nonsense. Jon Gosselin deserves better. Anyone who goes on a a talk show deserves to speak their mind. Nancy Grace didn’t allow that to happen.
