Pick your first word you will search for and keep the first letter in mind. Now choose whether you will search for this particular word either horizontally or vertically. Horizontal is my usual choice but everyone has different tastes in doing things. Assuming you have chosen the horizontal approach, you will need to choose whether you will approach your search from the far left end or the far right end of the horizontal line of letters. Once again, I prefer searching from the far left end of the horizontal line of letters, but everyone has their own personal approach . As long as you will stick to that direction until you have atleast found the current word you are searching for, you will do fine.
Assume you are searching for the word “descriptive”. Of course, you will be searching for a “d”. Scan each horizontal row from left to right or right to left, if you so choose. Of course, if you have chosen the vertical approach, you will be searching either from the far top end or far bottom end as opposed to the far left end or the far right end. When you stumble upon a “d”, check to the left and right of the letter for the rest of the word.
Then search top, bottom and diagonally for your quested word.
Do the same if you have chosen the vertical approach, simply making sure you have searched completely around the first letter of the word you are seeking. If you have not found your word, move on to the next row of letters, whether it be horizontal or vertical. Do not worry. Your quest for the long lost word will soon be over and you will be moving on to the next word on the list. Just remember to remain steadfast with the direction you choose atleast until you have found the current word. It may even actually help to alternate by doing horizontal searches and then doing vertical searches. Alternating between left and right could also be quite helpful in preventing eye soreness from gazing at a puzzle excessively.
You can search from right to left and/or vertical also but always remember to check your diagonal letters, going towards the top and bottom. Whichever end you start on stick with it because if you do not, you will lose your momentum. If you start off going horizontal and left to right, you should stick with that exact same direction. Once you have found your first word, move on to the next. You can change which direction your search will be in once you have found your word. But NEVER change your direction in the middle of searching for your word.
