Wordy Wednesday

Today is Wednesday and that means it is time for Wordy Wednesday! On Wordy Wednesday, I’ll share one of my writings with you. It may be anything – a poem, a short story, an old essay (doubtful, though, as I don’t think I can find them), or just something that I wrote for fun. Perhaps it’ll even just be a line or two and I’ll ask for your suggestions which you can either put in the comments or publish as your own article!

Today, I looked for a prose prompt. I figured that it would give me a break from my NaNovel. Yes, that’s what the Lake Charles group calls the novels for NaNoWriMo.

The prompt told me how to being the fiction. I’ll start writing it and when I get tired of writing, I’m going to stop. Then, wherever it’s left off, it means it is time for you to finish it how you want. You can finish it in the comments if you’d like, or you can publish your own article. You can copy all of my text or you can link to my article. It’s whatever you want to do because it is your own article. I’d just love to see what you have in mind because all of you are very creative!

It’s not the street I usually go down, but for some reason, that day, I turned down a different road. I think I may have been distracted by the sound of a cat in a trash can. I became concerned that it wasn’t just a cat, so I turned down the road. I looked into the trash cans and there was a filthy yellow tabby cat.

I had part of a tuna sandwich left. Not thinking that it would matter, I threw the last of it on the ground and continued walking. I thought the cat would simply eat the sandwich and leave. I was wrong. As I walked home, I heard the horrible rasping purrs of the filthy tabby.

I couldn’t have a pet at my apartment nor did I want a pet. I just wanted to be left alone. I got to my apartment complex and the cat was still behind me. I was glad that the streets were filled with buildings. That way the cat may not want to stay in the place. It would obviously need some place with grass and trees.

I ran up to my apartment and slammed the door. The rest of my day seemed normal, but when I went to bed, there was that horrible rasping purr outside my bedroom window. The cat had seemed to grow as well. What was with this cat? I tucked myself under my covers and waited for the cat to leave, but it never left.

Now it is your time to finish the story. I’m tired and I have a lot of fiction that has to be written this month, so I’ll leave this to you creative writers that aren’t consumed with doing NaNoWriMo and putting extra stress on themselves like me and my friends.
