World Series Schedule 2009 Inches Closer

by sawpan

The World Series schedule 2009 is still a ways off, but most everyone has penciled in the two teams for the World Series schedule 2009. But with a few games to go, the World Series schedule 2009 isn’t set in stone yet. It may be hard to convince fans in New York and Philadelphia, however, as projections now begin for an all East-Coast World Series. The Phillies are now convinced they are on their way to the 2009 World Series, while the Yankees are still heavily favored to get there – but still have work to do.

The World Series schedule 2009 doesn’t start until next Wednesday, October 28. For months, the World Series schedule has been a bit controversial, as thanks to World Baseball Classic, the Series won’t likely end until November. This has given fans another chance to bash Bud Selig for ruining the playoffs with his tinkering.

Fans will also bash the World Series schedule 2009 if the Yankees and Phillies get there early. The Phillies can clinch as soon as tomorrow, while the Yankees can clinch as early as Thursday. If they each do that, then both teams will have a week off before the first 2009 World Series game. That may make for some rusty baseball and impatient fans.

Baseball never alters their postseason schedule if a series ends early – which fans blame FOX and TBS for. The World Series schedule 2009 starts next Wednesday, because the latest date for a championship series game is Sunday, when Game 7 of the ALCS might be. But no one expects the Yankees and Angels to go to Game 7, and both the Yankees and Phillies are expected to clinch by Friday or Saturday – unless the Dodgers and Angels stage two Hollywood endings.

The Phillies’ place in the World Series schedule 2009 was almost locked up after their improbable comeback in Game 4 last night. The Yankees were close to taking a decisive 3-0 lead over the Angels hours earlier, but lost in dramatic fashion in extra innings. Still, even with a 2-1 ALCS lead, the Yankees are still in good shape – unless the Angels knock around C.C. Sabathia tonight.

So even if the Yankees and Phillies end things in the next few days, their 2009 World Series showdown wouldn’t start until October 28 and 29 in Yankees Stadium. Games 3, 4 and a possible 5 would be in Philadelphia, on Halloween night, November 1 and November 2. Games 6 and 7 would be on November 4 and 5 in New York.

November baseball isn’t too appealing to many – and if November baseball is in the cold of New York and Philadelphia, everyone would fear for bad weather. But at this point, New York and Philadelphia are inches away from both being on the World Series schedule 2009.
